The anticipation was a high one, and the unknown was intriguing to many in how and if President Barack Obama was going to step up to the plate this time in the second Presidential debate to former Governor Mitt Romney’s challenge of his policies. Knowing the mountain he had to climb since losing the first debate to Romney and feeling the pressure, Obama had his thoughts in intact and executed his views like the vintage Obama many got familiar with quickly. I actually believed Romney would take another debate win, as I felt that with all the pressure on Obama to win, a positive outcome just seemed unlikely.
However, I was so wrong, Obama showed up to his second debate like one of those Roman sword fighting warriors from back in the day. One thing that surely cannot be said about Obama is that he cannot perform under pressure, because on his second Presidential debate, Obama saw the situation stacked against him and the pressure to win and went in full force coming out on-top. After a question was launched by an ordinary American setting off the debate, Obama launched out of his seat with great energy and eagerness, and this is when a clear victory could have been detected.
Since his first debate loss against Romney, many thoughts were being thrown out as to why Obama got over-run by Romney and one of those thoughts were that Obama is not good at debates but rather at giving speeches. How soon we forget about Obama’s debate match-up with experience Senator John McCain where Obama was victorious in all debates. The fact of the matter is, you can be really good at something, but there can be someone who is better strategically at maneuvering and executing a plan you never thought of, and in the first Presidential debate such was the case in favour to Romney.
