Oh We Love This! Plus-Size Devoted Magazine Bash Mainstream Model Industry For Using Under-Weight Models And Failing To Represent Healthy Looking Women

PLUS Model Magazine published a featured photo displaying a plus-sized model pressed up against a straight-size model

And we can’t blame an industry with the desire for change towards a more positive outlook.  A magazine that is dedicated to plus-sized woman and models has had enough with the mainstream industry by their move in using underweight, unhealthy-looking-women in pushing their ventures and failing to recognize plus sized women who display a more healthy lifestyle. So in anger, PLUS Model Magazine published a featured photo displaying a plus-sized model pressed up against a  straight-size model, making the point of the obvious difference in regards to health. In the photo feature with size 12 model Katya Zharkova, statistics captioning the image are present with one saying:

“Most runway models meet the Body Mass Index physical criteria for Anorexia. Twenty years ago the average fashion model weighted 8% less than the average woman. Today she weighs 23% less,” another states.

And the editor-in-chief, Madeline Figueroa-Jones for plus size woman and models speaks:

“Not everyone is meant to be skinny. “Our bodies are beautiful and we are not talking about health here because not every skinny person is healthy.’

And its not saying that every skinny person is unhealthy but rather provides a negative attitude in saying that only slimmer women are beautiful and this is so far from the truth. And not only that, but typically, slimmer models lead a much more dangerous lifestyle where they force themselves to be extremely thin all while  instilling  negative thoughts in young girls,  making them believe this is the healthy way of living.
