Yes, apparently the Bond franchise is looking to make a major shift at some point down the road, changing 007 entire cultural background and the actor to play the first black James Bond may just be Idris Elba. Please tell us that both is not true and that this is just some crazy thought being kicked around. We have been used to the white English speaking James Bond and GOOD actors that play the role of 007.
We don’t need a false actor like Elba to step into the leading role in a powerful franchise that has intrigued us over the years. We have seen Idris Elba in various films and those were all we needed to see of his “acting skills.” If the Bond franchise is looking to crash and burn all that they have built, then by all means Idris is there man for the job. The Bond franchise looking for a black James Bond and Elba to play the role is not the way to enter the future phases of the franchise.
Here is actress Naomie Harris’ vouch for Elba to be the first black James Bond:
“I didn’t realise that there was this talk and then I did a film with Idris and he said that he met (Bond producer) Barbara Broccoli and that it does seem like there is a possibility in the future that there could very well be a black James Bond.
And she continues:
“I would have to vote for Idris because I just finished working with him and he’s a great guy.”
Clearly this is a vote based on friendship and not the artistic skills of an actor for a job.
